Founded in 2019 in the historical heart of Hanoi, Vietnam, Alex Art Gallery was established with a singular mission: to preserve and celebrate the timeless beauty of traditional handmade fine art painting in an increasingly digital world. We believe that a true painting carries a unique human energy—a soul breathed onto the canvas through patient, deliberate brushstrokes that no print or digital generation can replicate.
Initially starting as a local studio showcasing landscape works inspired by the serene lakes and historic quarters of Hanoi, the gallery has grown to encompass bold contemporary abstract expressions. By combining classical techniques like multi-layered oil glazes, encaustic wax elements, and hand-applied metallic gold leaf accents, our gallery bridges the gap between historical Asian meditative art and modern Western expressionism.
Today, we are proud to serve an international community of collectors, shipping original canvases and certified limited-edition prints to over 40 countries. Every piece leaving our studio represents weeks of dedicated focus, high-quality materials, and absolute devotion to the craft of painting.
The Artist
Alex (Nguyen Viet Anh, b. 1988) is the founder and principal artist of the gallery. Raised in a family of traditional woodcarvers near the Red River delta, Alex developed an early reverence for raw materials and manual labor. He went on to study at the prestigious Hanoi University of Industrial Fine Arts, graduating in 2011.
Seeking to expand his artistic vocabulary, he spent two years studying classical painting methods and modern color theory in Paris. His signature style is marked by thick, texturized impasto layers applied with palette knives, contrasted with delicate, translucent glaze layers that catch and refract natural light.
"For me, painting is a form of active meditation," Alex states. "The physical resistance of the oil paint, the texture of the linen fabric, and the shifting reflection of gold leaf throughout the day—these elements create a living conversation within the room where the painting hangs."

Every original painting is entirely hand-sketched, hand-painted, and hand-finished by artist Alex. We never employ assistant factories or mass-reproduction prints as originals.
Provenance & CoA
Every piece is delivered with an official, hand-signed Certificate of Authenticity bearing the catalog ID, dimensions, medium detail, and the artist's physical stamp.
Insured Delivery
Artworks are custom-crated in heavy wooden packaging lined with high-density foam. We ship globally with full transit insurance via DHL Express and FedEx.
